The Process |

The kitchen counter had become a resting place for papers, books,
supplies, and the many other belongings of a busy family. We removed
everything from the counter, sorted through it, and then replaced only
what was necessary. |
Now
there is plenty of empty counter space for food preparation, paperwork,
and other necessary tasks. We also created a “family information station”
with inboxes for mom and each of the boys. |

cluttered countertop. |
We love clear
horizontal surfaces! |
|

|
|
This cupboard was full of arts and crafts supplies, office supplies,
memorabilia, and seasonal decorations. |
The cupboard now holds seasonal decorations on the
top shelf, family games on the middle shelf, and family art supplies on
the bottom shelf. The desk area below houses the "family information
station". |

 |
|
The food preparation space was cluttered and difficult to use. Our client
described the kitchen as her least favorite room in the house. |
Now
that the kitchen counters are clear, preparing food is much more
enjoyable, and the space is a pleasure to be in. Our client found
curtains for the window that give privacy while also letting in light. |
|

|
 |
|
Since our client and her sons use the garage entry, off this room, to come
and go from the house, this large dining table became a resting spot for
all sorts of “stuff”. The traditional shutters on the large picture window
blocked light from the room and contributed to an unwelcoming environment. |
We
recommended a new table and chairs that fit better in the space. We also
recommended that our client remove the shutters and replace them with a
simple, warm window treatment. What a difference! |

The
table, chairs, and curtains are beautiful, warm, and inviting. |
|
 |
 |
|
Our client has a wonderful eye for color and had chosen beautiful paint,
artwork, furniture, and rugs for this room. |
We
opened up the space by rearranging furniture and lighting, and
decluttering. |
|
 |
 |
|
This corner held an exercise bike and a bookshelf with CD’s, photographs,
and other memorabilia. |
We
moved the exercise bike and bookshelf to other areas of the room, creating
space for this wonderful cabinet, which was previously tucked away behind
the couch. |
 |
 |
|
Another view of the
front room. |
The entertainment center now sits directly under the ceiling lamp, which
had previously looked out of place. There’s plenty of space for our
client and her three boys to relax and watch a movie. |

|
The boys' gaming area. |
This is the view
from the same corner of the room, after.
We moved the TV and
gaming chairs to another part of the room, and angled the couch slightly
to improve the traffic flow in the room, while still allowing the boys to
easily see the TV from the couch. |
|

|
The entry way of the
boys’ room. |
We
moved the bookshelf into this space and created baskets for each of the
boys, as well as dedicated space for games, books, and certain toys. |

We
removed the mini pool table and decluttered the space. |
