Auto Mechanic's Office

Rainbow Auto Service

A year or two before we arrived, Larry had cleaned and painted his office.  In his choice of colors – blue walls and black accessories – and his choice of nature-themed artwork, he laid the foundation for his office to be a peaceful and welcoming place to work.  We used Larry’s vision for his office as our guide as we planned and implemented his 2007 office transformation.

The Process
Before After

This is what we saw when we first entered Larry’s office. Our task was to refine and complete the basic workflow foundation that Larry had started.  This included suggesting that the printer and other office machinery be moved to more accessible locations, and that the office supply shelves be less visible to customers.

Larry purchased, painted, and installed louvered doors from the Re-store to create a dust-proof storage space for office supplies and a cleaner, more welcoming entrance to his office.

The back wall of Larry’s office had become a place to pile things. We moved the half file, cleaned off the shelves, and re-installed the electronics in their new homes.  Now the back wall of Larry’s office is an efficient work space.

The space at the end of the desk included a non-functional space next to the filing cabinet.  A protruding pipe prevented Larry from using the floor space.  The counter space on top held more electronics as well as other “stuff”.

At our suggestion, Larry built a small platform over the pipe and moved his open topped half file into the space to create a centralized filing area.  This created space on the other wall to centralize all the electronics.

Larry said the stress of the mess in his office was wasting his time and costing him money.  He wanted the office to be more useful and professional, and he wanted to spend less time looking for things.

After 5˝ hours of focused work, directed and implemented by Harmony Matters (Naomi and Jesse), Larry and Rich, the desk/command center is now an inviting and efficient space with room to work.

This is Larry’s office now: an efficient and welcoming space
 for both customers and employees!
